ACTIVITIES

Redfish Lake 401 Redfish Lodge Rd, Stanley, ID 83278 • (208) 774-3536 • https://redfishlake.com/

Redfish Lake, in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, is named for the brilliant Sockeye Salmon that once came to spawn in such massive quantities that the lake appeared red. Still, the highest elevation spawning habitat for salmon, Redfish Lake sits nestled at the base of the jagged Sawtooth Mountains, at the headwaters of the Salmon River. Activities around Redfish Lake range from leisure to adventure. The opportunities are endless: playing in a paddleboat, sunbathing on the beach, kayaking nearby whitewater, exploring the lake by canoe, reading on the grass, photographing the scenic beauty, hiking, rock climbing, and horseback riding.

Sunbeam Hot Springs

Located on Hwy 75, about 12 miles east of Stanley. Located right along the riverbank, these hot springs fill hand-built river rock pools with varying temperatures of naturally hot water. While you’re there, check out the old (out of commission) Sunbeam bathhouse. However, this is one of the rare public, non-commercial hot springs that actually has a restroom/changing room.
