Douglas fir and Western redcedar create a two hundred foot canopy stretching above the forest floor of hemlock, fern, flowers and deciduous trees that line the river.

The McKenzie is one of the largest spring-fed river in the lower 48 with snowmelt filtering through the porous soil of the cascades before reaching the river up to ten years after falling as snow. This natural filtration system is what makes the aquifers of the McKenzie so amazingly clear.
